Examinations
We strongly believe in celebrating and awarding students for their hard work and determination in class and recognising the time and effort spent in completing an RAD grade.

As the students are taught by Royal Academy of Dance registered teachers and learn the prestigious RAD syllabus, this means we can offer regular, optional examinations for all students.

How does this work?
Students must attend class with good attendance and behaviour to learn and progress in their current grade. When the teacher has decided the students are prepared for their exam, they apply for a date with the RAD in line with the examiner tour dates. This means teachers can only pick an exam day within allocated dates. Students can only be entered once payment for the exam has been made. The school is then allocated an exam date that can not be changed. Some grades will be required to attend extra practices and all grades take part in a mock exam at the exam hall prior to the exam day.

Once students have completed their exam, we wait a matter of weeks to receive results, certificates and badges.

The RAD offer 2 pathways for examinations to ensure exams are inclusive and enjoyable for all students.

Examination
Students enter the exam room without the teacher in up to groups of 4. Each individual student gets marked on their technique, musicality and performance in all sections of the exam. The students then receive a mark out of 100% which then aligns with a Pass, Merit, High Merit, Distinction and High Distinction. Students must have a strong work ethic and attendance to take part in an examination.
Class Award
Despite the name, class award students also get marked individually however can enter the room with the teacher. The teacher is there for support and guidance. Class Award students are marked slightly differently and receive a score out of 3 for technique, musicality, performance and the main dance at the end of the exam. This means the class award is graded either Pass or Fail.
